Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? We're happy to help.

What is Frenting?

Frenting is a private booking and payment tool for renting your place or things only to people you already know and trust. It's designed for family, friends, and shared-use situations — not public rentals.

Is Frenting like Airbnb?

Not exactly. Frenting is an alternative to Airbnb and VRBO for people who want to rent to people they already know and trust. There are no public listings, no search or maps, no reviews or ratings, and no strangers. Every listing on Frenting is private and shared by the hosts.

Who can see my listing?

Only people you share the link and password with. Listings on Frenting are password-protected and not publicly searchable. If someone doesn't have your link and password, they can't see or book your place.

Do I have to rent to everyone who requests a booking?

No. You're always in control. Hosts can approve or decline booking requests, block off dates, and change availability or rules at any time. Frenting is designed to support flexibility, not pressure.

How much does it cost to list my property on Frenting?

It's free and easy to list your property on Frenting. Hosts pay a simple 5% booking fee only when they receive a paid private booking. You'll receive 95% of the booking subtotal (nightly rate + cleaning fee). If you choose to offer a stay on the house at no charge, there's no booking fee.

How much will guests pay per reservation?

Guests pay a 3% service fee per reservation to cover secure payment processing. If a stay is offered at no charge, there are no guest fees.

How do payments work?

Guest credit cards are processed securely at the time of booking and are charged only when the booking is confirmed by the host. This helps avoid awkward follow-ups and ensures everyone is on the same page. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Hosts receive payment details and records through their Frenting dashboard and are paid out through PayPal or Venmo within 3 business days after the booking is confirmed.

Can I use Frenting for a family cabin?

Yes — many people do. Frenting works especially well for shared family cabins and lake houses where scheduling needs to be easy, expectations need to be clear, and communication can get messy. We're continuing to build tools specifically for shared family properties.

What kinds of places or things can I list?

People use Frenting to share cabins and vacation homes, lake houses and shared family properties, campers, RVs, and vans, guest houses and second homes, and other stuff. If you only want to rent privately to people you know, Frenting likely fits.

Is Frenting available everywhere?

Frenting is available wherever private rentals between people you know are allowed. Hosts are responsible for complying with local laws, regulations, and community rules.

Why doesn't Frenting have reviews?

Because reviews make sense for strangers — not for people who already know each other. Frenting is built around trust, clarity, and existing relationships, not ratings or algorithms.

What if something goes wrong?

We encourage hosts and guests to communicate directly and resolve issues respectfully. Frenting provides structure and documentation, but rental agreements are between hosts and guests.

Does Frenting provide insurance?

No. Frenting does not provide insurance or guarantees. Hosts are responsible for ensuring they have appropriate coverage for their place or items.
